If you play in first person you will never really see the difference anyway. Since there is absolutely no other difference between genders, it makes sense to pick female. If you pick a female, you will now have a perk that gives you extra damage against most of the enemies in the game. Mei can sometimes be found outside, wandering the flight deck, near James Hargrave and C.J. She lives in the common room of Rivet City and can usually be found there or in the Rivet City market. There is also sarah and Lucy who will sex you up for a few seconds (yet another way radiation screws people over). In FNV there is still no real romances going on but you do get more out of the sexy perks, such as the guy in the ncr outpost who will give male characters free repairs when you flirt with him.
